Carole Caplin comes to visit!

At Monday's Meeting (7:30pm, Novellos) we will be welcoming Carole Caplin. As Fulham WI members are all very interested in being active in our community, in health and well being and being 'Lifesmart' in every way... it will no doubt be extremely interesting to hear about Carole's healthy approach to life and about her business 'Lifesmart'.

We will also be welcoming Claire Anderson-Byrne from the Hammersmith and Fulham Chamber of Commerce who will be talking about the opportunities for women owned businesses in the area.

Please note that Monday's night's meeting is closed (ie. members only), if members have a non WI friend that they would particularly like to bring, please email Lucy first.

Also don't forget tickets for the Ball go on sale so bring your cheque books!

Tickets for 'Party with the Tzars' go on sale!

On Monday 2nd October evening tickets will be on sale for this year's annual Fulham WI Christmas Ball "Party With The Tsars". The ball is on Saturday 2nd December and all members plus their families and friends are invited to purchase tickets (£60pp) for this fabulous evening. The night will comprise a vodka cocktail reception (in keeping with our Russian theme!), a three course feast with wine, live entertainment, raffle and disco. Please help to sell as many tickets as possible for the ball as monies raised not only go to our chosen charity, the very worthwhile Royal Hospital of Neuro-Disability, but also some profits will be put back into WI to help pay for our speakers and other events throughout the year. So please purchase a ticket or two (or maybe even a table of ten!) for our Christmas Ball on 2nd December. Remember to bring your cheque book on Monday! Check here to see pictures from 2005's ball.

Committee Positions

If you would like to join the Fulham WI committee 2006-2007 (starting in November) please email Lucy (the soon to be ex-president) ASAP and let her know how you would like to get involved. Being on the committee involves being able to commit to an extra meeting each month. There are a couple of positions vacant, including Treasurer (Henri's potentially off to warmer climes) and President (Lucy has done it for far to long and its time someone else had a bash!) The positions are open to all Fulham WI members. They obviously involve some responsibility but if you are vaguely energetic and organised and you enjoy being a member of the WI then that should be enough to get you through! Please note this picture is of a typical commitee meeting (yes..its very informal – and usually quite fun!)

Thanks to Sara Sargent for pointing out that it looks like the National Consumer Council is calling on supermarkets to do more about packaging and waste, and also reducing non seaonal food. She thought these links might be interesting following National WI's campaign against wasterful packaging :-)
