The March Fulham WI meeting will take place on Monday, 3rd March from 7.30pm in the upstairs function room at THE PETERBOROUGH on the New King’s Road. Directions can be found here and new members are always welcome.
The March meeting will include:
Fulham WI is delighted to welcome Colonel Stephen Daniell, who will give a short, illustrated talk on The Royal Hospital Chelsea touching on the past, present and future of this iconic, national institution.
Stephen Daniell is the senior Captain of Invalids at the Hospital and was a cavalry officer for 37 years before joining the Hospital staff in 1998. He will be escorted by a Chelsea Pensioner who will ensure the veracity of his words.
Essentially Ethel – the story of a Suffragette
The evening will be complemented by Gill Stoker and her one-woman show, Essentially Ethel. Gill, a professional actress, has been working on her one-woman show, Essentially Ethel, since 2004: it is based on the memoirs of the composer and suffragette Dame Ethel Smyth (1858-1944).
The show offers an insight into the life of a talented and headstrong woman, born into the Victorian era but a bold rebel against the Victorian stereotype of femininity. Her thoughts on the rights of women are of lasting relevance today.

FWI 5th Anniversary
In September we will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of Fulham WI. We would like to make it special and possibly host an event to mark the occasion and possibly raise money for a local charity. Anyone who is interested or has any ideas please speak to a member of the committee. All ideas welcome!
See you all there ... for those who cannot make it, see you very soon!
