AUGUST SPEAKER
Frank Ryan:
Frank Ryan is an experienced medical consultant and bestselling writer. He has written several bestselling books on diets and healthy eating – and will attempt to answer your questions and worries about diet. He pioneered the omega-3 revolution and will talk about this, including advice on omega-3s in pregnancy, kids and how to keep sharp mentally in our day-to-day lives as well as reduce the risk of heart attacks and mental decline. He is also an expert on viruses and their relationships with people – which is relevant in the time of pandemic flu. But he also has a lighter side, which takes him off to the beaches of Fuerteventura, when he lets his hair down, samples more than he should of the local20vino and a cigar or two, and writes popular fiction. He believes that we all have some writing ability and will suggest ways in which we can use it.
He will bring some books at discounted prices, which will include his Brain Food Diet, which has comprehensive simple advice for healthy eating.

FWI PRESIDENT AND COMMITTEE
As the WI constitution decrees, all committee members who have been on the committee for three years (or more) have to stand down. Therefore at the end of September Joanna and myself will be stepping down as the co-presidents and there will also be a number of vacancies on the committee to fill. Some committee members would like to stay on but this is also a time for new blood and your chance to be involved in the running of the FWI. We will be looking for a committee of 7 people for roles including: President, Treasurer, Membership, Events, IT and Speaker Co-ordinator
We will be asking for nominations by the August meeting and then there will be a chance for every FWI member to have a say in who they want as the President/on the committee with voting taking place at the September meeting.
