Bishop Creighton House, 378 Lillie Road, SW6 7PH www.creightonhouse.org
History - Bishop Creighton House was set up in 1908 and began by running play centres and support groups for children and families in Hammersmith & Fulham. Through two world wars and the devastating effect of a bombing raid on our premises in Lillie Road, the work of BCH has continued unabated. Today, 100 years on, BCH works with children, families, people with learning disabilities and older people, promoting independent living and improving lives across Hammersmith & Fulham.
Disability Services - if you have a learning disability and live in Hammersmith & Fulham, the Mentoring and Workwise projects may be able to help you. Whatever your goal in life - whether it is getting a job, living on your own, travelling independently, building confidence, meeting new people or trying new things - our staff and team of trained volunteer mentors can help and support you to realise your full potential.
Independent living - Do you feel safe and secure at home? We have a number of projects to enable older and disabled people to remain independent and well at home. We can help in many different ways, offering a range of free or low cost help and advice. If you spend a lot of your time on your own, we can provide daily phone calls or regular visits from our volunteers. If you are in need of practical help, our handymen can change lightbulbs, fit new locks and undertake a range of small jobs. Larger works, such as installing an accessible bathroom or carrying out essential repairs can be arranged. We can also provide equipment to prevent accidents in the homes of older people and families with small children.
Community centre - seven days a week, from 9am to 10pm, our building is open for use by local people. We run our own groups - our weekly art, bridge, leisure and social clubs for older people help meet the social needs of the local community. Affordable offices and meeting space can be hard to find and BCH offers help to a network of groups and organisations.
Please contact us for more information about our services.
I have already covered many books and articles on this topic, which only might find at http://www.pdfqueen.com the books search engine, but still read your article with interest. Very informative! Thanks a lot!
