MAY SPEAKER
The speaker tonight will be Loretta Oliver, from Ovarian Cancer Action:
On July 5th 2007 I was diagnosed with advanced Ovarian Cancer. I had just been for a smear test so I had assumed I was cancer free. My children at the time were 2 and 4 years old. My GP told my husband a week after diagnosis that I would die within 6 months. Now, nearly 4 years on I am about to embark on my third session of chemo. I work with Ovarian Cancer Action who are the only UK cancer charity with scientists dedicated to finding a diagnosis and treatment for Ovarian Cancer. I try to raise awareness amongst women to ensure that the do not have to go through what I have been through. In the last 2 years I have presented to over 1500 women.
After the meeting Sarah Russell from Mary Kay Cosmetics will be attending to underline the cancer story and offer us a chance to see their cosmetics:
Sarah Russell is an Independent Beauty Consultant for leading US skincare specialist Mary Kay Cosmetics. Dedicated to changing the lives of women around the world through their charity initiative, ‘Beauty that Counts’, Mary Kay Cosmetics is a proud supporter of The Eve Appeal. Sarah is here today to raise money for this fabulous charity, which funds vital research into gynaecological cancers, and she and her colleague are looking forward to pampering you with some luxurious mini-treatments after the meeting!
As always, the meeting will be in the upstairs room at the Peterborough /Southern Cross pub on the New Kings Road (on the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road ) nearest tube is Fulham Broadway. Please find here a link to Google Maps for directions. We look forward to welcoming new members and returning members alike.
