The June Fulham WI meeting will take place this coming Monday 6 June at 7:30pm. Andrew Cowen, family carer and Director of Caring Sharing & Company Ltd, discussing caring for the elderly and those with dementia.

JUNE SPEAKER
The speaker will be Andrew Cowen, family carer and Director of Caring Sharing & Company Ltd, - a home care company that also specialise in dementia, a facilitator for the Government’s family carer programme “Caring with Confidence”, trained by the Alzheimers Society and a qualified lecturer in Social Health Care. He will be discussing caring for the elderly and those with dementia.
The talk will look at some suggestions and resources to help keep the elderly living safe, independent and empowered within their own home. We will also discuss some dementia symptoms, behaviours and the value of reminiscence while also dispelling some common myths about the illness. This talk is delivered in a positive manor, peppered with some amusing personal anecdotes that will be uplifting at the same time thought provoking. The talk will be followed by an open question and answer session with opportunities to ask more private questions after the event.
As always, the meeting will be in the upstairs room at the Peterborough /Southern Cross pub on the New Kings Road (on the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road ) nearest tube is Fulham Broadway. Sunday, 10 July - Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club - £35.00. If you are interested in an evening at Kew with the fantastic Buena Vista Social Club, then let us know! We were thinking of getting a group together. A kind of buy your own tickets and turn up and meet up with a huge picnic for an evening of great music, type of thing.
Saturday, 23 July - Geoffryre Museum – meet outside the museum at 10.00am. Minutes from the City of London in Shoreditch is this gem. One of London's best loved museums, it shows the changing style of the English domestic interior in a series of 11 period rooms and herb and period gardens (ranging from 1600 to present day). Admission is £5.00. If you are planning to come to this then please let me know.
