Dear Ladies
Forgive the late notice but we are meeting this evening at The Southern Cross/Peterborough Pub on New Kings Road (junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road). Hope you all had a jolly weekend and enjoyed the Jubilee Celebrations.
Our contribution to the Portobello Jubilee Tea Party was a huge success. HUGE THANKS and MUCH GRATITUDE to Hazel, Toto, Jennie, Amanda and Fiona who baked and baked and came and helped too. We served over 500 cups of tea and the cakes were a huge success and you all missed a fun (albeit exhausting) day. I do hope the local Parsons Green Fair on 7 July will get your cake making and jam making skills in action and get you in the WI aprons and behind the stall.
We're a group of Inspiring Ladies who attract much attention because we are the WI! Our bursary fund has increased by £450 because of last Saturday. We need to make more and we need YOUR help for July! The old faithfuls are good, but the more the merrier!
Our speaker this evening is Jenny Haddon who is a member of the Romantic Novelists Association - and with weather like this the idea of spending the evening curled up with a good book is tempting.
But the WI always goes one better - and we can all curl up in our chairs with a glass of wine in our hand (or something else if you so choose at the bar) and a real live writer instead! Look forward to seeing you. The meeting starts at 7.30pm and I hope you can make it!
All good wishes
Katrina Quinton
President
